JOINT QUALITY PROCESSES

The purpose of Perlim quality processes has always been to control production, from the orchards through to dispatch, in order to provide consumers with a safe and high-quality end product.

QUALITY PROCESSES IN ORCHARDS

The Protected Origin Appellation (AOP)

So as to benefit from the AOP appellation, apples and walnuts must meet conditions as stipulated by a specification document governing methods for receiving said appellation (variety, method of cultivation, density, etc.).

Each operator, from producers to retailers, is inspected each year by independent bodies registered with the INAO (National Institute for Origin and Quality Inspection).

GLOBALGAP Certification

Created in 1997 under the impetus of major stakeholders in European mass marketing, the GLOBALGAP reference system is a method of fulfilling the increasing concerns expressed by consumers in terms of food safety, animal welfare, environmental protection and general improvement of working conditions.

GLOBAL GAP FOR APPLES: In 2010, 178 producers were certified in accordance with the GLOBALGAP, representing 95% of our members.

GLOBAL GAP FOR WALNUTS: In 2010, walnut production by the Lipequ cooperative, GLOBALGAP covered 586 hectares and 834 tonnes, which represents 25 % of total supply. The certification zone spans three French departments:

  • ▪ Dordogne with 348 Ha of certified walnut trees
  • ▪ Corrèze with 114 Ha
  • ▪ Lot with 124 Ha

QUALITY PROCESSES IN FACTORIES

Food safety management systems

The BRC (British Retail Consortium) and the IFS (International Food Standardisation) reference systems aim at overseeing the safety of food produce sold by retailers as own-store brands.

  • Perlim Apples was BRC certified for the first time in 2007.
  • IFS certified since 2009, Perlim walnuts is delighted to have reached a higher classification in 2010.

Consequently, all sites of the group are inspected each year by a certification body for the renewal of certification.
