The PERLIM NOIX cooperative comprises 670 producers located throughout a broad geographical area, which encompasses 2400 hectares of walnuts concentrated in the following regions:
PERLIM NOIX, which represents 25% of the Périgord walnuts, will have a controlled appellation of origin (AOC) as from the 2002 harvest (decree currently being drafted). Its members are located throughout the geographical area of the appellation.
The walnut quality approach follows the same principles as that for apples and is based on a fervent dogma:
to protect the taste and guarantee the gustatory quality of walnuts in shells and walnut kernels originating exclusively from Périgord.
This can be seen in the improvement of production tools (from the orchard to the packing station) and in product innovation.
